Zenspirations Monogram "B" (Zens #30)

Now I'll start with a quick post to show you how my progress with monograms is going.  Now I'm trying my hand at the letter B.  This one was easier to start and finish than the letter A.  As always I colored mine with gel pens and here are some pictures of a few B's I did!

I am going to try the letter C next and see it I can be a good student and finish my alphabet. :)

For information about Zenspiration click HERE and it will direct you to Joanne Fink blog where you can find all kinds of information.  I also have a Google Community dedicated to Zenspiration, where I would love you to join and share your Zenspirations!

Thanks for visiting and take great care of yourself...finding something to smile and feel content about is what gets you through the hard times!

Zenspirations Monogram "A" (Zens#29)

Colored
Boy was it a shock to me when all of a sudden on my lunch break at work and I grabbed a little square piece of drawing paper and drew this letter.  I had no thought or expectations and all of it sudden it all came together!

The short story is that I have been trying to draw the letter A in a Zenspiration style for the longest time and it was disaster uglier disaster.  I gave up!!!  What was different this time?  I think the fact that I did not have the book in front of me and I wasn't looking at anyone else's monogram as reference.  I just went with the flow and did not do too bad.  I did drew another just to reassure myself I could do it again.  :)ha!

With a yellow and blue gel pen I added some color.  Overall, I am please with my progress, maybe now I can move on and tackle the letter B!  Ahi!

Thanks for the visit and always remember that progress is better slow and steady than none at all!  Have a blessed day!

Zenspiration #27

More shapes and dangles to add to my repertoire! This one was created while taking a break on Sunday after some cleaning and organizing of my office/studio.  I swear no matter how much I try the mess keeps coming back.  The sad part is I can only yell at myself and no one else.  I'm sure many of you know what I mean.

I created this one with a Bic Fine Point Marker and some gel pens.  I am trying to incorporate more shapes to give these drawings more interest.  I do find the pattern drawing very relaxing and something that requires little thought.

Be safe and let those you love know that they matter!  Thanks for visiting my little corner and find some creative joy.

Zenspirations #26 (Mini)

I have been a very bad blogger lately!  I've been so busy in the last couple of months that it has been a little difficult keeping up with my art.  I've finished school and am going on an internship as well as working, so it's been a little hectic!

I've been able to do a few little projects here and there and just finished writing the post for them, so I am pleased to get back in the blogging game.  I do enjoy talking in this tiny corner of the Internet world and look forward to getting back.

Let us begin with my Zenspirations.  One of the things I am not very good at is lettering. I'm a little addictive at watching YouTube videos with many great talented ladies (and gents!) using letters to enhance their art journals.

"Zenspirations: Letters & Patterning" by Joan Fink has some tutorials showing how Ms. Fink creates some of her popular lettering. I got a cheap drawing journal at my local Walmart™ and decided to start practicing.  Hopefully I can develop some skills at lettering.

I have also been taking mini tutorials on Photoshop® from my daughter, a dangerous task that girl has taken, and added the distressed frame to the picture to add some pizzazz or at least that’s what I told my daughter.   Well here is another butterfly for my collection of mini Zenspirations®.  I use Sakura Micron 05 pen and colored it again with my stash of gel pens.

Glad to be back and hope you have a great day and keep smiling, life no matter how bleak it seems will give you second chances.

Zenspirations #25 (mini)

Don't you love hearts!  been creating Zenspirations hearts and experimenting with color.

I am a fan of Nika in Wonderland on YouTube and she creates mixed media pieces that are whimsical and colorful.  I personally love her use of female profiles, specially her ability to draw eyes and add rich texture to the piece.

One of the tools she uses a lot is the Neocolor water soluble crayons, which is a brand of crayon I also purchased and have been using a lot lately.

For my hearts I used:  Sakura® Micron Pen 05, NeoColor “carmine” and “jaune citron” to add a touch of color.  With a water brush pen I dilute the color until I got a the soft look of water color.  Since I drew the hearts on regular drawing paper I started with small amount of colors.  I dried the color with a heat gun and then added another layer of color.  It would have been easier to just use watercolor paper but when I drew the hearts I was not planning to use color, this was an afterthought.

I do like the effect and will try using some watercolor paper or even mixed media paper to be able to add more color to my Zenspiration®.

Thanks for stopping by and make sure to enjoy your creative journey.

Zenspirations #24 (Mini)

Home is where the heart is...the heart is with the ones you love.

I enjoy making these little houses and adding all the dangles and color.  I wish it was my home for real!  Imagine that!  Here is another drawing from my Zenspirations® Minis!.  As I mentioned in a previous blog I cut squares out of drawing paper scraps and have been doing little drawings.

I used a Sakura® Micron 05 and a Sharpie® fine pen with an assorted brands of gel pens to create this little house.

A small drawing for a small blog post!  Take care and as always thanks for visiting and hope you have fun with your art.

Zenspirations #23 (Mini)

A few blogs back I made some suggestions about using Bic® Fine Point because of my heavy hand and the way I keep destroying the Sakura® Micron 01 pens, and to my surprise the creator of Zenspirations™, Joanne Fink, actually posted a comment!!  Excited!!!!

Anyhow, she suggested that for those like me with a heavy hand, try using Sakura® Micron 05.  I must say the pen held up pretty well when I tried it.  I still like the Bic® but now I have more options!

I cut some squares (approximately 3.5 x 4 inches) from some nice drawing paper scraps I have from a journal project. They are the perfect size for my pocket in my planner and I can carry them with me when inspiration strikes.

What I have learned is that Zenspirations™ is not just about dangles.  You can incorporate shapes such as flowers and just add pattern to the design.  It is also about writing and incorporation positive messages into you drawings.

So I have been playing around with different shapes, such as hearts and little homes.  This is one of my first attempts with butterflies, which are cute drawings Joanne Fink uses in her art and she teaches how to draw them in her book, “Zenspirations: Letters & Patterning.”  I personally think the butterflies would be a great addition to a card or as an accent on an art journal.  I used my stash of gel pens to add some color.

Thanks to Ms. Fink for the suggestion about the Micron 05 and is definitely well appreciated plus a great addition to my favorite pens to use while doing Zenspirations™ and Zentangle®.

As always thanks for visiting and remember that with art the more you like your tools the more art you want to create, and even on a budget you can still create!

Zenspirations #22

More Zenspirations experimenting.  Lately incorporating words into my drawing and mixed media art has been a new way to express my thoughts and bits of wisdom.  With Zenspirations there are more chances to use handwriting in the art.

This particular drawing I created in the span or two days.  I wanted to have more patterns and curves.  The coloring as usual was done with an assortment of gel pens.  The dangles where all drawn with a Zakura Micron Pen # .05.

"It is better to have a heart without words, than words without Heart.."

I like this quote because as a person that words do no come easily to (unless I'm writing them) it is important to know that it is your actions that come from your heart that speak the loudest.  I can write my thoughts down or express my feelings better if I write them, but have a hard time telling those close to me in words what I'm feeling or thinking.  This is why I like doing this blog because I can express myself through my work and put down in words my thoughts or feelings about it.

I have found that the art community, especially crafters are a generous and giving bunch that accept and connect with you without prejudice or judgement.  Thank you for letting me express myself in this little corner of the World Wide Web and always remember there are others who will love to connect with you without judgement or prejudice.

Have a great day!

Zenspirations #21

A short post for today (ain't you glad?!) In this Zenspirations drawing I got to play with different dangles.  I have been looking at the Zenspirations workbook for practice and having a good time.  On my planner I created a section for drawings.  I cut Blicks® drawing paper to the size of the planner pages and now I always have paper in hand.  By creating this section in my planner I don't have to carry extra drawing pads with me!

Have a great day and remember that even on the go you can find creative joy!

Zenspirations #18: I’m All Over!!!

This a quick and easy Zenspirations® I created a while back while waiting for my car to warm up at 5:30am before going on my way to my second job.  It was –5 degrees outside and my car was fighting for its life, took three tries to get the poor thing to start.Surprised smile I had to leave the poor thing on for 15 minutes before I could take off!!

I drew the dangles with my trusty Bic® Intensity Fine pen.  I really like this pen because I tend to have a heavy hand and some pen don’t last long in my hands.  I can use it on any paper and have pretty good results.  Once the car was warm I took off and finished the drawing on my break.  The colors I completed after and I used an assortment of gel pens I have collected recently.

Doing this quick drawing helps me start my day in a better frame of mind.  Give it a try… As you can see you do not need to be a artist to have fun and find a little quiet time in your life.

Have a safe day and find contentment in the little things.Peace

Zenspirations #17

I couple of weeks I took went to the Goodwill near my town and was looking through their book’s sections and found a little book of quotes.  The title is “Webster’s Book of Quotations”",” published in 1994.  Nifty little book with quotaions for everything from ability to anger and to youth among others.  Very interesting little book.  Another find at the Goodwill was a few old books that had sheet music so I am very exited to used them in the future for my art journal.

I enjoy going to the flea market and the Goodwill® there are so many interesting things you can find there and it is a great place to find art supplies like stamps and stationary.  The best thing to find is old books and pages to create art journals or mixed media projects.

I was on my night class and during break I started this Zenspirations drawing and used one of the quotes I found on the book to practice with my lettering.  Unfortunately I did not write down the page of the quote so I can’t remember who the person is that wrote.  So for the sake of disclo
sure, it is not my quote!!!! Is just a nice quote that I think society these days needs come to appreciate more.

Thanks for visiting this little corner of my mind and have a great day, be safe and keep finding joy in your creativity.

Zenspirations #16

This Zenpsirations® was created during my break at my second job.  I only had a Bic® Intensity Fine market and a red Pentel® write pen in my purse so I decided is all I needed and this is the result.

Like the Zentangle® this method can be just as relaxing and fun to do.  You don’t need a lot of materials and with a few curves and line come up with a cute drawing.  Zenspirations™ is a Joanne Fink creation and if you are interested check out her blog and/or YouTube videos by Sakura®.  The Zentangle® method was created my Maria and Rick and for more information check out their website.

Have a great day and if you have never done Zenspirations™ or Zentangle® give a try, they are both a great way to relax and create something fun and pretty.

Zenspirations #15: Happy Valentine’s Day!

In the middle of a Blizzard warning and snowing since early afternoon….what can you possibly do?  Housework or artwork?  Mmmmm…decisionsThinking smile, not really.  I decided to do some artwork.  I have been very inspired by some YouTube ladies and today was a good day to create some new things.  It’s been a while and since it is not the best weather to go out for Valentine’s, I went to my studio and had some fun (hubby had to work today..Sad smile)

I started with a quick Zenspirations drawing with my new pen, Uni-ball Vision Elite.  II t is not a Micron but I was testing this pen on a mixed media project I will show in the future and liked the color, burgundy is really my favorite color.  With some drawing paper and a nifty pen I had some fun . Party smile

Happy Valentine

Happy Valentine’s Day to all who have love in their hearts.

Have a safe and warm day and just give someone you love a hug and tell them how much they mean to you.  Thank them for being in your life and let them know that without them life would be just a little too lonely.

Zenspirations #14: In a Bit of a Groove!

With my busy schedule I decided that I wanted to at least make time for more art, so I took a Strathmore 400 Series 6x8 and a pencil case with my Micron pens, eraser, pencil, and mini ruler and put them on my purse, ready for me to use whenever I have a few moments during the day.  Usually on my lunch break during my night classes, I heat up my little dinner and take out my pad and pens and just doddle.

I have been doing a lot of Zenspirations, by Joanne Fink lately and I  have been enjoying making all the dangles and practicing with my handwriting. I would like to incorporate more handwriting and I read somewhere recently that having a separate notebook to just practice with words is a good way to come up with new and different letter and quotes.  Let see if my purse can hold another notebook in it.  The poor thing will become a weapon pretty soon just with the weight.  :)

Have safe and wonderful day!

Zenspirations #13: More Lost Holiday Cheer!

Ooops!  I found another one....Here is another lost Zenspirations drawing I did back in December 2014.  Though I share since I liked the way it turned out.  As I said before "Better late than never,"  with all the snow this part of the country has been getting it feels like Christmas.  Mind you we got no snow during the actual Christmas season.  Mother nature is sure making up for it now...about 3 feet of snow just in two days and more to come...Yikes.

Have a great day and as always find your creative joy and share it...even if it is out of season!!!!

Zenspirations #12: Is Christmas Really Over??

I just re-located my craft studio to a different part of the house and found a couple of Zenpirations® drawings I manage to do during the Holidays.  This one I did a couple of days before Christmas.  I remember placing it inside one of my drawing pad and forgot all about posting if for Christmas day. Yikes!

It is amazing to me, however, how fast the holidays seem to go by.  You do all this preparation for Christmas and then it gets here and is gone as fast as it came.  I find that as my daughter grows it goes even faster.  The wonder of Christmas morning fades a little and you do your best to hang on, but know that it is part of life.  Before you know it another generation will come by and hopefully you get a few more chances to experience the wonder through the eyes of child.

Before

A month late, but with lots of love!  This is my Zenspirations® Christmas wishes!

Have a great day and if like me you're getting hit by a blizzard (Northeast) then be safe and warm!

Zenspirations #11

A quick one for today, got some homework to do! Nyah-Nyah  I am trying some new hearts to incorporate on my Zenspirations drawing and these are some of the ones I have been practicing.

The gel pens I used for these are from Fiskars®.  They have a more finer point than others so there was more control with the flow of the gel pen.

These heart would probably make great drawing for smaller cards.  Very simple!

Have a great day and most of all be safe!

Zenspirations #10

“My Strength comes from those that love me unconditionally and without judgment.” – ConsueloM.

This drawing is for the two people who give me the strength and determination to face myself and the world.  They love me no matter what my imperfections and sometime because of them.  They know me in my darkest and in my lightest.  They keep me sane and at times pluck me from the edge.  A smile, a joke, a hug or just a look is all it takes for them to find my heart and nourish it.  I love them unconditionally.  They know me like no other and I am blessed everyday to have them in my life.

Zenspirations #9

Alright another Zenspiration drawing I made recently while sitting quietly waiting for my husband to come home from work.  I really enjoy the few minutes I get sometimes at night, with the house nice and quite.  There is such tranquility in spending a few moments in the quiet, specially after a few stressful weeks that have felt like a mini tornado.  Now after a few weeks of anxiety and stress I can finally take a breath and a slow deep breath!Rainbow  I decided to just draw something that would reflect what a few moments of quiet means to my mind.

It is time to regroup and remember to make time for quiet.  I know I sound like a fortune cookie , but I guess is better that medication. Sick smile

Enough self pity, hope you like the drawing and I can’t say enough about how much I like all my gel pens and the Zenspirations.  It's fun and very relaxing.  A big thank you to Joanne Fink, the creator of Zenspirations it has been a mind saver!.

Have peace and enjoy the quiet...

Zenspirations #8

Along the Zenspirations theme I wanted to start practicing for a small greeting card set I want to create for Christmas gifts.  The set should be about home and these little houses are my obsession lately.  I tell you I can’t stop making them.  They are easy and have many possibilities for colors and lines that just bring a smile to your day.

The addition of the tree is to add more whimsical elements to the card and lets face it is another shape to add patterns to it and more glitz with my metallic gel pens (“The Write Dudes®).

This first picture is my drawing as I started coloring with the gel pens.

My finished little house!

Keep creating and remember that “Home is Where the Heart is!!
